A member asked:

Tested positive for covid 1 day ago. when will it turn negative? around day 5? am i still contagious after 5 days? no fever just nasal congestion, dry cough a little and some aches?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usual covid testing looks for the RNA markers of the germ. It does not prove infectivity, or lack of it, just that the RNA material is present. Newer recommendations consider the 5 days after diagnosis as the infective period.
