A member asked:

I always had constipation my whole life. had tests as a kid, all good. no history of colon cancer in my family. i did a fit test at home , no blood in stool. i do have hemorrhoids that seem to swell then go down day to day. colon cancer?

Hemorrhoids are a common consequence of constipation and straining; they are veins, so their size varies depending on the pressure inside the veins. Colon cancer screening for average risk persons (like you seem to be) starts at age 45.

For constipation - You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods.
