A member asked:

Could tx for gon/chlam w/ ceftriaxone and azith 1g cause an rpr test to be false neg 3 months later? initial exposure was oct 18, and gon/chlam treatment was oct 30. rpr was done mid feb and neg. hiv neg. no other exposures. no sx. conclusive result?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The RPR test may be falsely negative in both early & late stage syphilis as antibodies may not be produced at those stages. A FTA-ABS test would be coclusive. negative HIV test after z90days iS conclusive.
