There is no lymph node in the middle ear where the fluid is. The increased pressure in the middle ear causes your pain. When the inflammation comes down with medication, fluid is reabsorbed and drained out, pain is relieved. You can take Tylenol for pain as needed besides pill and inhaler for the allergy.

My 2 year old had ear infection that went away, she's on zyrtec (cetirizine) for her allergies any thing i can do to help get rid of fluid behind ear drum.
I've been getting allergy shots for 2 years. Every other week now. Still really bad. Dry nostrils. Fluid behind ears, but no infection. Spasms/ Clicking. Congestion. Taking allegra (fexofenadine). Any suggestions?
