Other meds: Antihistamines do not manage congestion well which is why decongestants are often added. Singulair (montelukast) and nasal steroids manage all allergy symptoms and in head to head comparisons steroid sprays control symptoms better than oral antihistamines. Topical spray antihistamines are also an option. Allergy shots help reduce or eliminate medications in 2/3 of patients so may need to see allergist.
