It is totally unacceptable that your prescribing physician will not supervise your taper off such a significant dose of a longacting tranquilizer. We don't know enough about your past or current condition or status and whether you're ready for a slow or very slow taper or what symptoms to expect,if any. Please contact your MD and get proper care.

It depends on the substitute medication for your behavior problem. If the substitute is a SSRI or SNRI medication, I would suggest taper the dose by reducing dose (1mg to 0.5 mg) first then reduce the frequency (three times to two times then one a day then prn) as tolerated as long as your symptoms are under control over a period of 2-3 weeks. You can go backward then taper again at a slower pace.
