Can you use klonopin to taper off xanax? my doctor prescribed this method but now i'm reading that valium is better. help?

Method: I'm not familiar with the technique of substituting one benzodiazepine tranquilizer for another in order to taper off the first one.. Why not just perform a slow taper off the xanax without using any other medications?
