Hello doctor/s, just a doubt to clear. Does choledocholithiasis and the obstruction of the bile duct for around 4 weeks cause secondary biliary cirrhosis?
3 months ago my brother had a bile duct obstruction caused by a gallstone so 25 days later he was treated with ERCP and the stone was extracted. He had no past issues with liver. My only question is, will Choledocholithiasis cause liver cirrhosis?
A little confusion on this: Is Choledocholithiasis a small bile duct disease or is it a large bile duct disease?
I recently had Choledocholithiasis which was treated within 2 weeks. Stone and gallbladder removed. Everything is back to normal now but my concern is, will that phase of bile duct obstruction have any lethal long term consequences in the future?
