A member asked:

Brother got diagnosed with common bile duct stenosis which is now corrected by placing a stent. bile flow has now returned. but the stenosis lasted for 4 weeks before the stent was placed. will this duration cause liver cirrhosis to him?

The liver has accentuated capacity for regeneration, so even if liver function lab data were elevated, it is not likely that cirrhosis will be a lasting result of this particular cause from bile duct stenosis.

If the obstruction does not recur you are not at risk of cirrhosis from this episode. Do not drink alcohol. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.
