I am still having occasional pain in my finger that i jammed a few months ago. my np ordered an x-ray and the results say "soft tissue swelling of the third digit. no fracture, malalignment or significant degenerative changes." what should i do now?

I assumes the hand X-ray was done right after you had had the injury. If that finger is no longer swollen and there is no deformity, you will overcome this pain (occasional or episodic) soon and there won't be any long lasting effect. However, if that middle finger does not have a normal look and you have pain when flexing it you may need another X-ray but I doubt this is the case.
