IT MAY BE H/O TRAUMA: It may be if there is history of trauma you can recallbut it can be due to other causes like infection, cellulitis, allergic reaction to insect bite, arthritis.Get it checked and only way you can know if it is hairline fracture is by doing an xray after exam.
