Good Evening. Now a day prostate cancer screening is done by Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test alone. Digital rectal examination (DRE) is generally not recommended as a screening test for prostate cancer, either alone or in combination with a PSA. Guidelines from most of the specialty societies do not suggest DRE for screening but if someone still doing it then DRE should be done yearly.
