Had a mammogram 4 days ago with normal findings. the plates pinched my nipple and i had discomfort with it during the exam. now, 4 days later my nipple keeps having on and off pain. is this normal?

Normal will be defined by the mammographer. Discuss with them. Would think not normal.

Your nipple was unusually pinched with the plates, a traumatic nipple pain. It should get better, apply cold compress several times a day if pain bothers you too much, there will be no long term consequence.
