Get follow up: Worry does not usually help but certainly be concerned enough to get the follow up that is recommended by your physician. Understand that there are many findings on mammograms that turn out to be benign. Make sure you get the follow up to find out if it is serious or not.

On a baseline: mammogram, a focal symmetry(assuming it has been completely worked up with diagnostic mammo views and ultrasound) has a less than 1% chance of malignancy and is usually followed up at 6 month intervals for 2-3 years. If it is a new asymmetry(developing asymmetry) not on prior mammos, there is a 10-15% chance of malignancy, and usually needle biopsy is warranted. Sometimes MRI is also helpful.
