You should be referred to a surgeon, not to the hospital. We only refer patient to the hospital for an incarcerated hernia which is an acute condition. Ventral hernia is common and surgeon can fix it outpatient as an elective surgery (not an urgent or emergent procedure). Many people have ventral hernia and they do not want to have the surgery.

Follow up with a general surgeon would be best. Current findings will be placed in your current clinical context and conditions to time correctly surgery if and when needed will be clarified.

If the diagnosis is correct you will need to have it repaired by a surgeon
