This is your third question. The frequency of checking renal function depends on the etiology and duration of your kidney disease. If problem is chronic with early stages (stage 1,2 and 3), we usually not more often than three times a year. However, if the disease is acute or sub-acute (new onset, regardless what stage), which requires aggressive treatment, we check blood test at least monthly.

It all depends on co-morbidities and meds taken and degree of CKD- so the decision should be made by your nephrologist. $-6 months is the usual frequency
