Doc wants me on methotraxate 2.5 mg. mri showed inflammation in wrist and tendon. all ra bloodwork came back neg. problem started 7 yrs ago after falls. i never addressed pain until now. very nervous about side effects. if ra neg, can this go away?

I would seek a second opinion if the prescribed doctor is a rheumatologist. If not, you need to see a rheumatologist first. I am also concerned about the adverse effects of Methotrexate too.
