A member asked:

Are white matter hyperintensities caused by ms different from those caused by migraines? meaning, are they similar lesions except for their size and location? if not, are the ms lesions a type of brain damage while the migraines lesions are not?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

MS is not diagnosed by presence of white matter changes alone but requires clinical history and neurological findings as well. I'm not sure whether the white matter changes from migraine and MS are different from each other. i tend to doubt it. . A neurologist would be best to educate us here.
