My cholesterol is 226, cholesterol non hdl calculated is 180, cholesterol ldl calculated is 153, cholesterol hdl ratio is 4.91, tryglicerides 136, i am 43, male. should i be taking any meds for these levels or not? any herbal supplements that help?

Usually we first start lifestyle changes involving a low cholesterol, low saturated fat diet. A dietician could educate you on this. Regular exercise helps. Omega 3 fish oil raises the hdl. Get to your ideal weight & the dietician helps here also. If these measures don't lower your LDL to under100, total cholesterol to under 200 & raise your HDL to over 50 within 3 months, it's time to see your MD
