A member asked:

I am diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in right lung. my pet scan shows it to be in a tough location, encasing the pulmonary artery. removal of the lung is suggested and scheduled, is this normal or excessive thing to do instead of partial removal?

Further clarification will be needed with your surgical team, but it sounds like partial resection is not technically possible due to encasement of the main artery. A thorough pulmonary assessment is commonly done prior to surgery to assess for the integrity and function of the remaining lung.
