You've had a surgical procedure with sutures, so you can expect some pain and swelling which will subside over the next few days. Eat soft, bland foods and chew on the opposite side. Temperate liquids are fine. After 24 hours you should be able to very gently brush your teeth as normal.

I recently advised to use a WATERPIK to remove food. Eat soft foods and take TYLENOL and ADVIL for pain and swelling.
