Pain: Some low grade pain is normal;ie Motrin will manage pain. You have to be sure to rinse after eating to be sure no food debris gets trapped in the healing socket. If there is food trapped in the healing socket it can be very tender. A curved monoject syringe is very helpful at this stage of healing for trapped food. Please see your oral surgeon and have the area checked and get a monoject from them.

Three weeks is a: Long time to still be in pain. I'm assuming this was a lower wisdom tooth. In any event an appointment with the treating doctor is indicated for an evaluation to see what is causing this persistent discomfort. Hope this helps.
