The Atkins diet is a diet with very high protein which can be doubled the recommended protein intake. This diet is used for weight loss and fighting diabetes mellitus. However, it is not easy to follow for a long time because your will crave for sweetened foods. If you do not have liver or kidney disease, high protein diet, especially with vegetarian protein, is safe.
