I saw a doctor this afternoon. he prescribed me 100mg of metoprolol and 25mg of hydrochlorothiazide. im having high blood pressure lately, and was taking 12.5 mg in the morning, and 12.5 at night. can i break the one he prescribed me in half?

I am not sure why you were prescribed 12.5 mg, twice a day, in the past, it's not the right way to take a low dose of Hctz. Now, you should take the whole tablet 25 mg in the morning at the same time with Metoprolol, do not break it.

Is is more appropriate to take a diuretic in the am so take the medication as prescribed. Good Luck
