Without knowing which medications, what damage, and which accredited articles you are referencing it is difficult to give you any sort of answer. If you have any sort of periodontal damage at your age, have it treated by a specialist.

If you are undergoing gum treatments and are following directions and have good home care then you wouldn't need medications for pain. The only time you would need pain medication is after gum surgery. Go to the dental school at RUTGERS and ask the PERIODONTAL DEPT. professors your concerns.
