I tested positive for hsv2 igg, none for igm. i never had any symptoms, i just do a yearly std check, and noticed i was never tested for herpes specifically. i did it this year, and positive for it. my doc said i dont need anti virals. agree?

Yes I agree. The antibody that is positive in your case shows a past exposure to the virus and not an acute infection. You should be on the look out for outbreaks however. This is because the virus is present but not active at this time.
