Having hip pain. i was told i have hip impingement but mri shows no labral tear. can the impingement cause pain and can you have surgery for impingement with no tear?

Usually occurs in people like athletes, runners etc and can cause pain. Best is to see an Ortho. specializing in hip for best opinion. Good chance you may not need surgery.

Yes you can have impingement without having a labral tear. Surgery is the last resort. You should try multiple nonsurgical treatment before contemplating surgical intervention.
