I have had swollen lymph nodes (occipital) now for the last few years and this year i have done a ultrasound every 2 months or so to monitor them (6 this year) all have shown normal lymph nodes. could i have caused any damage by having this many?

No. You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. Wish you good health!
