A 23-year-old male asked:
55~59 bpm resting heart rate as of this month. i know avg is 60-100. i dont regularly exercise. would my low avg heart rate be major cause for concern? (i do not exercise regularly but am very loyal to mediterranean diet if that helps?

Your resting heart rate is normal. I recommend evaluation for persistent heart rates below 50 and over 80 in your age group.

How long hasn't been since your last inclusive Physical Examination. Any one observation, such as bpm, has to be interpreted within the realm of your total overall physical health. When you do see your GP, be sure ho give him/her a copy of all of your meds (Rx/OTC/recreational).
