Zoster vaccine is for preventing shingles (herpes zoster outbreak) not for herpes labialis (cold sores) caused by HSV-1. More than 50% of American adult have latent HSV-1 although most are symptomatic. Yes, kissing can transmit the virus especially when you have an active lesion.

More than half of adults have been infected with HSV 1 and a cold sore can cause burning feeling, the name "cold sore" notwithstanding. Zoster vaccine is for shingles not HSV.
