Cold sores: Usually caused by herpes simplex type 1 while genital herpes is caused by herpes simplex type 11. However you could transmit the genital herpes caused by herpes type1 by performing oral sex when you have blisters. Similarly you can develop cold sores caused by herpes type 11 if you perform oral sex on somebody with genital herpes. Stay safe
