A member asked:

Cold or warm compress for stye in eyelid? it is swollen and painful and red on the skin. guessing its because i did not cleanse my make up thoroughly?

sounds like a chalazion which is blocked oil gland in the eyelid. Warm compresses are best and if no decrease in swelling in a few days see an ophthalmologist.

Definitely warm compresses as often as you can while the stye (hordeolum) is red, tender or swollen. If it becomes a smaller and hard, it is likely too late and it has formed a granuloma (chalazion) that may need to be excised.
