I know of no "live" vaccines a 7th grader would take. The dead ones would not be any risk to him on a steroid, although they may be less effective. If you continue to post you should list the specific vaccines and dose of medicine/weight of the kid. More information provides more room for a specific answer.

First, he should not be getting any live vaccines at age 10-12 unless he is behind on vaccines. Next, if it's inhaled budesonide, so little systemic absorption it is no problem to get shots. Even if it's an oral dose, the biggest problem would be he may not get a very good response to the vaccine. This is what you need to discuss with his pediatrician- it certainly safe to get the usual shots due
