My son is on an oral,liquid,potent steroid named budesodine. he needs to have vaccines for school. one of them is a live vaccine. is it ok to vaccinate him while on a steroid or should we wait? how long to stop will it be ok? thank you!!?

Budesonide as an inhaled medication for bronchospasm is active at the site of need and metabolized/broken down significantly before it can transfer to the bloodstream. Regular use does not change the effectiveness of vaccines. If given as an oral liquid it can effect vaccines and vaccine administration should be done after steroid effect has faded, often a month or more depending on dosing.
