Ear pain at about a moderate level. im pretty positive it is a middle ear infection. do i need to visit a doctor for antibiotics? last time i had an ear infection, my eardrum ruptured. worried it may happen again?

Hello. Seeing a physician is indeed a good idea and yes, they may decide to prescribe an antibiotic. Use afrin nasal spray and Sudafed. Mucinex is another OTC medication that can help reduce the discomfort and decongest the Eustachian tube opening in the back of your nose. Motrin is another medication that can help open the tube, provide relief and drain the middle ear fluid.

Definitely need to see your doctor for antibiotics and ear drops . If ear pressure is high, it can rupture your eardrum again. In the meantime take motrin for pain.
