86 yr male was intubated for 1 day as a precautionary for stridor noise. 5 days later coughing up blood. ct and x-ray are normal except laryngeal endema . hospital treating it with steroids. how long to stop this bleeding? see ent or pulmonologist?

With treatment it should stop in 3-4 days. See ENT

Hello. It’s time for an ENT evaluation to assure there isn’t any other reason for your symptoms. Certainly the intubation and the tube being in place can cause irritation causing bleeding but it’s not typical. An endoscopy, imaging and treatment can be helpful to resolve these issues. Once the reason is clearly established a better idea of healing expectations can be shared. Good luck.
