A member asked:

My colonoscopy says normal mucosa was noted through the whole colon random biopsies were taken throughout colon for microscopic colitis? is she looking for cancer or just the colitis?

May be both. Random biopsies are taken as surveillance to look for pre-malignant changes, when there are no obvious lesions visible to the naked eye. Wish you good health!

For abnormal microscopic findings in general with higher index of suspicion for conditions suggested by your clinical symptoms, in your case microscopic colitis.
