Could ovarian cancer or pancreatic cancer cause high ast levels of 54. all other lab values came back normal especially the liver panel?

If high AST is present in pancreatic or ovarian cancer we will be fortunate because these cancers can be detected early. Unfortunately, these 2 cancers are usually quite advanced (or late presentation) when detected.

AST level in this range is not likely to be caused by cancer. The most likely reason is a lab error. This can be confirmed by repeating the liver function test(LFT). I do not think it is anything serious or worth worrying about it. So you should wait to worry!

Lab error is unlikely. A more plausible explanation is mild hemolysis during blood collection. Red blood cells have AST will release it when lysed. Talk to your doctor about the desirability of repeating it in 6 months or so. An isolated mild elevation of AST is not diagnostic of any disease. Wish you good health!
