How bad are these values for liver enzymes? how high would they have to be to cause hepatitis or cirrhosis? and how long would it take for them to drop back to normal levels? got/ast: 533 units/l got/ alt: 338 units/l thank you?

Such high enzyme levels indicate rather severe liver damage, such as acute hepatitis. Whether there is risk of permanent damage and ultimate cirrhosis depends on the cause, how long the problem has been present, and other factors. For example, potentially very different outcomes between viral hepatitis, alcohol, drug toxicity (like acetaminophen overdose), autoimmune, etc. Discuss w/ your doctor.
