A member asked:

I sterilized my toddlers potty with lysol. washed it out and dried it and collected the sample since my daughter will not go in a bag because she is potty trained and hates accidents & will not let you near her. is this good sample to test for uti ?

I doubt it. A simple voided sample like that includes random debris from the outlet and vagina. Cultures usually grow multiple skin contaminant germs. If the kid is not febrile I would not bother. The better urine collections are done by trained staff in site preparation as a midstream void. Even more data can be obtained with a catheter specimen.

NO. May be for urinalysis but not for urine culture
