Rabies transmission from pets is rare but feral cats may be infected.A call to your local health department can let you know if if rabies is active in your region & the animals involved. They can also direct you to a source of the vaccine if it is needed. The cdc website also has information on rabies that may be helpful.www.cdc.gov.

A scratch or bite is dangerous from a feral cat because it has been shown they are now carriers of rabies. It is rare that someone has contacted rabies but if a wound occurs it is best to be tested.
