Vitamin D can be found in many kinds of food including fatty fish, (such as salmon, tuna, & mackerel), cheese, egg yolks, beef liver & foods fortified with vitamin D such as orange juice & cereals. Vitamin D is also obtained from sun exposure & supplements. Vitamin D has many vital functions including assisting in promoting healthy bones & teeth & supporting immune, brain, & nervous system health.

Would not rely on vitamin D supplements in food, as most often it is D-2, the animal form and not D-3. Need to carefully check. Better is to obtain from sunshine, but sun-block can interfere. To be fully assured, at your age, 1,000-2,000 units of D-3 could be ingested daily.
