Almost certainly a normal variation in pigment. Problems usually are symptomatic with pain, pressure sensitivity, etc. Just continue diligent brushing of your teeth and you should do well. Consider an ultrasonic toothbrush as these can really keep things clean and hygienic.

What you are describing is probably ly normal melanin pigmentation. That said, we can't examine you on this forum. If it has been more than 6 months since your last Dental examination, you are playing Russian roulette. if so, schedule a den tac examination.

The coloration you are describing is normal. The tissue higher up on your gums is thicker and contains more blood vessels. That is why it is darker in color. To help ensure that you are maintaining optimal dental health please visit your dentist twice a year for exams and cleanings.
