Color may vary: It is true that 'color' of the gums may vary, BUT through this medium it is impossible to say if this is normal or not. A Dentist near you can make this determination, and can hopefully settle your concerns. Good Luck !

Yes: The gum color is different throughout the mouth. Pink color next to the teeth is preferred, less inflammation. The colors turn a darker red as they progress towards the cheeks. It is one factor in the signs of gingivitis and progressive periodontal disease. There can also be pigments in the gums like other skin. See your dentist to express your concern.

Maybe: It is not unusual to have different amounts of pigmentation in gingival tissue. Has it always been there or is it recent? Certain medications or hormones (pregnancy) can cause changes in the color of the soft tissue.

It is normal: Gingival color varies according to degree of vascularity, thickness of the epithelium and melanin pigmentation throughout the entire oral cavity.
