It : It sounds like the gum tissue is inflammed. Did you just have the temp place a day or two ago, or is it there for a while? If not polished, it could be trapping food and bacteria. There is a very slight chance you are allergic to the monomer in the acrylic. Call your dentist to have him take a look.

Temporary : Temporary crowns do not your gums to change color, what you may have is a residual of blood around the margins of your crown, nevertheless don't procrastinate and call your treating dentist for a quick check. Good luck.

I : I also think that the procedure of preparing the tooth for the crown may injure the gum slightly. Dont be afraid of this, and make sure that you brush the area well to help it heal. If the gum doesnt return to its normal color by the time you see the dentist to place the crown, he may decide to do something for you. I wouldnt be too concerned.

Sometimes: This color change sounds like the result of your gum tissue bleeding with the blood remaining around the base of the temporary crown. This can occur if the tissue was injured during the preparation of the crown. You might want to gently rinse this area with salt water and or aloe vero juice to help heal the gum tissue and wash away the blood.
