The IgM antibody is produced when you have an acute illness. So, having a positive IgM to herpes simplex virus type 2 would mean you may have an active infection with this virus. But, the test needs to be interpreted in the clinical context meaning are you having symptoms of an active infection with this virus? So, your doctor needs to review this test result with you and give the treatment needed
