I just had labs drawn 7/23/2021. my iron was 70, hemoglobin 13, and my ferritin was 5. i cannot tolerate oral iron. should i set up an appointment with a hematologist? would i be a candidate for iron infusions?

The iron level is not reliable, only iron saturation and ferritin level will indicate iron deficiency. Your ferritin level is low but Hb is not that low for a woman but iron supplement is indicated if both MCV and MCH are low. Finding the cause of iron deficiency and treat it is more important than just iron supplement. Do you have menorrhagia? Yes, hematologist can give you IV iron if indicated.

Your are not iron deficient enough to require intravenous iron. If you can not tolerate oral iron you could change your diet to have more iron rich foods.
