See previous replies. Iron infusion is unlikely to help this. See a doctor -- do it ASAP if this is severe or sudden onset.

Most physicians try to avoid prescribing iron intravenously iv & instead work with maxing out oral iron along with oral vitamin C to aid absorption of the iron. If this isn't tolerated or not sufficient in somewhat urgent iron deficiency anemia cases ,iv iron is used but may take a few infusions. It will increase iron levels and then hgb & hct. I'm unsure if your MD agrees that you require iv iron

What is the cause of your iron deficiency anemia? Low TSAT may or may not be present in iron deficiency but high TIBC, very low ferritin, low red cell indices (MCV, MCH) and low Hb are consistent with iron deficiency anemia. IV iron will raise all numbers Hb, TSAT and ferritin if you have iron deficiency anemia. However, treat the cause is the primary objective, iron tx (IV or po) is secondary.
