A member asked:

Hba1c 6.1 on metformin 500mg and sitaglibtin 100 but lipid profile shows triglyceride 437 and hdl 23 others are normal im taking lipitor 20 mg is it enough or should i add fenofibrate 145 or 300mg to it ? thanks?

HDL is the "scavenger" of Triglycerides, which together with free fatty acids (FFA's) are what damage the lining of blood vessels leading to plaque formation, so yes, they should be treated with an agent specific to them, like fenofibrate. Insulin Resistance causes the elev. Trig's, so agents for DM that treat IR like Metformin and Sitagliptin are good choices.
