I need more info: In young patients like this I've sometimes had remarkably good results with diet, exercise and weight loss. Before I can give an informed opinion I'd like to know some more information: family medical history of lipid disorders, heart disease, diabetes, liver disease, obesity, and personal details including illnesses, medications, liver enzymes, BMI. Hello, 42 yr old male, controlled hypertension, recent lipid profile is: Total cholesterol:183 HDL: 39 LDL: 119 Triglycerides: 131 NonHDL:144 & A1C 4.9 Creatine: 1.36 my doctor didn't recommend a statin, but wants a renal Doppler ultrasound. Advice?
HBA1C 6.1 on metformin 500mg and sitaglibtin 100 but lipid profile shows triglyceride 437 and HDL 23 others are normal IM taking lipitor 20 mg is it enough or should I add fenofibrate 145 or 300mg to it ? thanks?
Lipid panel: TC 247, HDL 53, LDL 162, Trig 158. Don't want to go on statins. I have a varied diet but I know I can make some lifestyle changes. Even though these results are partially hereditary will dieting and regular exercise be sufficient?
